LONDON WINE FAIR 2019

SOLO NEBBIOLO et vites rarae INTRODUCES ROVELLOTTI VITICOLTORI IN GHEMME AT THE 39th EDITION OF THE LONDON-BASED WINE EVENT.

With 14,000 wines from 32 countries on display, the 2019 edition of the London Wine Fair was a huge success and continues to be a milestone for the whole wine trade arena.

SOLO NEBBIOLO et vites rarae attended the fair as the Export Manager and Brand Ambassador of Rovellotti, the estate based in Ghemme, Alto Piemonte. This was the first exhibition under the brand of Mondial Wine, the London-based importer owned by the Batasiolo family of Dogliani.

Kings of the shelves were the Ghemme D.O.C.G. 2011 Chioso dei Pomi, the Ghemme D.O.C.G. Riserva Costa del Salmino 2013 and the Colline Novaresi Bianco D.O.C. Il Criccone 2017, as known as the Unnameable Grape, all three gold medallist awarded by the recent Sommelier Wine Awards 2019 (won by Ghemme 2011 in the 2018 edition).

The turnout was pretty good with highly qualified visitors skimmed by an entrance fee that went up 10 fold in order to get the best on trade and off trade players only. In the stand the representatives of hotels, wine bars, and “delies” alternated tasting wines from the 20 italian regions from North to South.

The Rovellotti wines on the shelf which have also included the Colline Novaresi D.O.C. Vespolina 2017, testified once again the growing interest in Nebbiolo-based and Piedmontese native grape varieties vintages with the inevitable references to the “Burgundian stature” for the D.O.C.G. labels, the praise for the aromas and minerality of the whites and the acidity and tannic texture for the reds D.O.C. labels.
